Our honey is made by real bees in the UK. It's never heated above hive temperature. It's unpasteurised. It's cold filtered using coarse sieves. We believe the word raw is a helpful term when it comes to honey and that is why we proudly display the term across all of our runny honey products.

Raw honey is a hugely popular but subjective term. To some it means honey that is straight from the hive, with minimal tampering, filtering or excessive processing. We used the term unpasteurised but we now use the term raw.
WHAT IS 'RAW' UK HONEY?
UK raw honey is a very subjective term and it could be argued that most honey produced by UK beekeepers is 'raw'. Cheap imported honey tends to be pasteurised, to improve shelf life, which reduces the health benefits of the honey.
IS ALL HONEY 'RAW'?
Unprocessed honey retains numerous enzymes, minerals and antioxidants. We strive to keep our honey as natural as it can be. We use a coarse/cold filtering method and limit any heating to the temperature within the hive.
IS 'RAW' HONEY GOOD FOR YOU
Pure honey and 'raw' honey are used to describe the same thing - a honey that is unprocessed, coarse filtered and straight from the beehive. Our honey contains all of the natural enzymes that are present when the honey is in the beehive.
RAW VERSUS PURE
Most of the products on the Black Mountain Honey website will indicate that the honey is raw. Where we have heated the product above the temperature of the hive to create a smooth soft set product, we do not use the term raw honey.
