LANGSTROTH FRAMES
Flow hives across the world use Langstroth frames. If you want to buy a flow hive in the UK, you cannot use the standard national frames. That is why we stock our UK mated nucleus colonies on Langstroth frames, specifically for users of the Flow Hive. Langstroth frames have a larger surface area than Nationals and shorter lugs. They are used by a number of bee farmers in the UK on a commercial basis.
FLOW HIVES
We have run Flow Hives in the UK for the past two seasons using our Langstroth nucs for sale and they are some of the most enjoyable beehives we own. If you want to buy a flow hive and stock it with calm, placid, UK mated bees, our Langstroth nucs are the perfect fit. We recommend using a double brood system in your flow hives and taking the honey regularly to ensure the bees always have sufficient space to store nectar.
UK FLOW HIVES
Flow Hive used to sell National Flow Hives that would work with the standard UK national frames. However, they discontinued the Flow Hive for National frames in 2016. This was a real shame as it limited the growth of the Flow Hive market within the UK. However, UK Flow Hives are now available in a Langstroth format and we can state from experience, they are an excellent hive that work really well!

We had so many questions being asked over the past few years like; where can I buy bees for my flow hive? What frames fit in a flow hive? Where can I buy flow hives in the UK? BEST BEEHIVE FOR BEES
If you aren't sure if the Flow Hive is for you and are asking yourself, should I buy a Flow Hive or a regular hive, here is my recommendation. If you just want a couple of hives in the garden and are interested in a few jars of honey for you and the family, the Flow Hive is perfect for you. By cutting out the unnecessary extraction and equipment, you save so much time, effort and mess. It really is the simplest way to keep bees. You still need to manage your bees for swarming. That's why we have filmed numerous videos to help you along the way.
BEST BEEHIVE FOR BEES
The Flow Hive is a really good hive for bees but with one or two caveats. Definitely upgrade the brood area to double brood to help manage swarming in the peak of the season. Also go for the largest brood box they offer. We use a 10 frame box. The 8 frame Flow Hive brood box is way too small to a thriving colony throughout the swarming season. Buying a Flow Hive is not cheap but it will give you endless joy watching the bees fly in and out loaded with pollen and nectar. Extracting honey from the flow hive is simple, quick and mess free.
